Dr. Lawrence I. Barr was board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons in October of 1996 and re-certified in January of 2007. He is a diplomat of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners. Dr. Barr’s hospital affiliations include Virtua Health System, Jefferson Health and The Surgical Center of South Jersey. His professional memberships include the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, Pennsylvania Medical Association, New Jersey Orthopaedic Society, Medical Society of New Jersey and the Camden County Medical Society. In the summer of 1993, Dr. Barr joined Garden State Orthopaedics with a practice focusing on spinal reconstructive surgery, minimally invasive spinal procedures, carpal tunnel treatment, sports medicine and general orthopaedics. He centers his work in orthopaedic surgery, treatment of industrial and work-related injuries, orthopaedic disability evaluations and independent medical evaluations.
Dr. Barr graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1987 and completed in his rotating internship at Metropolitan Hospital in 1988. Dr. Barr completed in orthopaedic surgical residence in 1992 from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine where he spent three months each at Shriners Hospital focusing on pediatric orthopedics, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for hand surgery, Cooper Trauma Center on orthopedic traumatology and Graduate Hospital focusing on sports medicine. After his residency, Dr. Barr completed a fellowship in spinal reconstructive surgery in Cleveland, Ohio under Dr. Arthur D. Steffee including advanced training in both microsurgical techniques and spinal instrumentations.
